Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. A nasty piece of malware could be on your system and that could cause a lot of freezing. Has your PC been hanging or crashing during opening applications? If your computer is having problems browsing the web with Internet Explorer, try running the Internet Explorer Performance troubleshooter to fix the problem.
It checks for common issues, such as whether you have enough space on your computer's hard disk to store temporary Internet files. O pen Internet Explorer in Safe Mode. If the problem still occurs after you attempt the previous suggestion, an add-on or a toolbar may be causing the problem in Internet Explorer. For more information about how to do this look at the instructions below. If the issue doesn't occur in safe mode, it will be a problem with one of the add-ons you have installed on Internet Explorer and you will have to disable them and re-enable them one by one to see which add-on is the cause of the problem.
You could also run the troubleshooter to fix Internet Explorer add-on problems when IE hangs or freezes, here's the link:. Does the same thing happen. I'm a bit surprised that the above suggestions didn't work, but I will help you further with this. The above method may cause you to loose your favourites, so make sure to export your websites from your favourites bar.
Finally, if all above fail, test to see if this occurs on a new User Account, if it works fine on a new one, your current user account will be corrupt. There appears to be a problem with the last update that included KB It seems to affect IE 8, 9, 10 and 11and Windows 7 and 8. I posted this elsewhere:. IE9 is working fine now.
I hope they fix this update. I don't believe this is a permanent fix or if it is a MS problem. This is just my opinion and it's working for me now anyway. In response to the previous response about Windows Update, could you check and see if you have KB installed on your system. If so, can you remove it and see if the issue persists? If you're typing to me, I downloaded the file twice, had the same problem and deleted it twice and IE9 is working normally.
I too would like to know if ChrisScanlan still has KB installed or if he left it off of his system. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Internet Explorer 11 will not work for me.
Windows did an update last night which it is set to do automatically. Today IE 11 quit working after just a few minutes. I was not able to click on any links almost like the screen froze, but I could close out the window. I turned the computer off and back on, but that didn't help. Now whenever I click on the IE icon, no pages will load.
I don't even get a page popping that says "This page can't be displayed". It's just a blank page and the little circle on the tabs that makes the clockwise motion never goes away because the pages don't load. Whenever I click the "x" on the top bar, it cancels the navigation and I click refresh. Still nothing. I am currently using Chrome which is having no problems. This thread is locked. Click in the search bar and type in Troubleshooting. On the left panel , select View All. Select the icon saying Internet Explorer Performance. Type in iexplore -extoff. Does the same thing happen when you try to load the Start screen IE with the blue "tile"?
